Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are preparing to graduate from high school and/or who are currently enrolled in a college program. Entrants are required to be at least 13 years old at the time of entry, and, if not 18 years old at time of entry, then (1) must have permission of a parent or legal guardian to enter this contest; and (2) such parent or legal guardian must agree to be responsible for fulfilling all requirpents in these contest rules. In the event you are chosen as a winner, you will be required to provide proof of enrollment in a college program prior to receiving the contest prize. Not open to employees or immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren) of employees of Big Fish, or its affiliates or advertising/promotion agencies.
Entry and SelectionTo enter contest, submit through our submission form.
Contest entries will be accepted beginning at 12:00:00 p.m. PDT on October 4, 2017 and ending at 11:59:59 p.m. PST on December 31, 2017. Big Fish’s clock shall be deemed the official clock for this contest. Winner will be selected from the qualified entries received. Big Fish employees will judge the contest, with each submission being reviewed by a single judge and graded on the criteria provided above with the top ten percent moving onto the final selection stage. A panel of Big Fish employees will then determine the winner from the finalists according to the criteria provided above.
By submitting an entry, you represent and warrant that your entry: (a) is your original creation; (b) has not been copied in whole or in part from any other work; (c) has not been previously published; (d) does not violate or infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity right, or other proprietary or intellectual property right of any person or entity; (e) is not defamatory, libelous, obscene, or otherwise illegal; and (f) is your sole and exclusive property. You further represent and warrant that you have complete, worldwide distribution rights in and to your submission and that your submission is not currently and has not previously been the subject of a publishing agreement. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to disqualify your entry from the contest if the entry (a) contains obscene, offense pornographic or sexually explicit material, (b) is libelous, disparaging, includes inappropriate content, or (c) does not comply with these official contest rules.
Scholarship PrizeA total of one (1) scholarship will be awarded, consisting of two thousand five hundred U.S. dollars. The approximate retail value (the “ARV”) of the contest prizes is US $2,500. Winners are responsible for paying all costs and expenses related to the prizes that are not specifically mentioned, including but not limited to taxes. Winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release. Winners will be notified by mail.
Grant of Rights
By submitting an entry and if you are selected as the winner, you grant Big Fish the exclusive first publication rights to your entry. By submitting an entry, you grant us and our respective affiliates and agents permission to use, without charge, portions of your submission, along with your name, for any purpose in connection with this Contest for two years following your submission date. You also grant us the right to edit the formatting and display of your entry, and to modify or create literary or any other types of effects in respect to your entry without compensation or approval. In addition, to the extent that any moral rights (for example, the right to attribution and the right to integrity) apply, you waive (and to the extent that these rights may not be waived, agree irrevocably not to assert) your moral rights in your entry for purposes of this contest, including, without limitation, our use of excerpts from your entry in connection with this contest. You represent that you have received the consent of any person (or parent or legal guardian if such person is a minor) whose real and actual name or likeness is used or featured in any entry that you submit. If you fail to obtain the consent, your entry will be disqualified. We have the right at any time during the contest to request proof of consent, and to disqualify your entry if you cannot provide the requested proof. Excerpts, along with your name, city, and state of residence, and portions of your entry which relate to your submission, may be posted on any website owned or operated by us or any of our affiliates. Our decision to post any portion of an entry does not mean that the entry has been selected as a winning entry.
You irrevocably waive any legal claim you may have under any theory of law in any territory, including, without limitation, copyright infringement or breach of implied contract, that your rights were infringed due to any similarity between your contest entry and any other content that is or may become available through Big Fish, unless there is substantial similarity of protectable expression under United States copyright law between your contest entry and the other content includes a verbatim copy of a material portion of your contest entry.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Big Fish reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change these rules or cancel this contest at any time, or to modify, terminate, or suspend this contest should viruses, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Big Fish’s control corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest. Big Fish is not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission related to this contest, nor is it responsible for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive any attempted prize or attempted game coupon redemption on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site. Big Fish is not responsible for injury or damage to any participant’s or any other computer resulting from downloading any materials in connection with this contest. Big Fish reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the operation of this contest or web site; to be acting in violation of these rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or similar methods while participating in this contest will void all such attempts to participate in this contest. In the event of a dispute as to redemptions submitted by multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account used to participate in the contest at the actual time of play will be deemed to be the participant and must comply with these rules. The authorized account subscriber is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domains associated with the submitted e-mail addresses. Only the number of prizes stated herein will be awarded. In the event any technical errors occur in the selection of winners and more prizes are claimed than the number of prizes being awarded as provided herein, Big Fish reserves the right to award the prizes by random drawing from among all eligible claimants.

By entering, participants agree to be bound by these rules. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of prizes is permitted except by Big Fish due to prize availability and then with a prize of equal or greater value. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees (for himself or herself and his or her heirs) that Big Fish and its affiliates and agents will have no liability, and will be held harmless by such winner for any liability, loss, injury or damage to property or to person, including death, and reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or participation in this contest, even if caused or contributed to by the negligence of Big Fish. Participants agree that the decisions of Big Fish related to this contest are final. By participating in this giveaway, winners consent to the use of their name, photograph and/or likeness in any manner and in any medium for promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
